Prior to entering the world of parenthood, Melanie was a Chemist working at the University of Alberta. Although her formal education was focused in the Sciences, Melanie's passion is actually working with children. During the summers she attended university, Melanie worked as a Recreational Technician for the City of Edmonton. This experience ultimately led her to find her love of working with children, and gave her the hope of one day becoming a teacher. In fact, after completing her Bachelors Degree in Science, she worked towards a Bachelors Degree in Education. It was also while working at the City of Edmonton that Melanie first met and befriended Jessica Baudin-Griffin.
After finding out she was pregnant, she was looking forward to taking her first formal dancing classes with J'Adore Dance. But when she discovered that she was carrying twins, she worried that she would not be able to participate with two babies. With a little patience and help from Erin Heard (owner of Cozy Baby Happy Mommy), she adapted and learnt to carry both girls (Natalie and Michelle) at the same time (one in the front, one in the back). Although she did not have the opportunity attend formal dance training while she was growing up, she didn't let that slow her down at all. She found that a love of dance and
willingness to learn is all that one needs.
Melanie's love for dance is contagious. Her high energy and enthusiastic approach has enabled her to grow as a dancer and survive as a new parent of twins. Melanie looks forward to instructing with Salsa Babies and Salsa Tots, and meeting new moms and new babies.
