Activity Ideas for Level
Brain Dance
• Do the Brain Dance using different levels for different patterns.
Movement Activities
• Create an obstacle course in your house that requires your child to move through different levels (e.g. Crawl low under a chair, jump high over a pillow, medium walks balancing along a string). Let your child create an obstacle course that you must travel through.
• Take a favourite action song (e.g. The hokey pokey, If your happy and you know it, Clap your hands together, etc.) and add movements and actions with different levels (“ If you’re happy and you know it clap up high/down low”, etc).
• Blow bubbles: Encourage your child to stretch, jump, and leap for high bubbles, twirl, run, and dance through medium bubbles, and roll, stomp, and pop low bubbles (we love the Bubble Mix from Gymboree for a non-toxic, non-staining bubbles solution that makes tonnes of bubbles).
Other Activities
• Go to the park and discover all the levels at the playground!
• Play I Spy and use levels as one of the hints (e.g.I spy something that is big, and green, and low to the ground).
• Collect different items from nature (leaves, sticks, berries, pine cones, etc.) and make and make a collage placing the items, high, medium, or low depending on where you found them.
