Since having Malia I realize how many things I have forgotten from when Bria was a little baby. I am sure the lack of sleep over the past few years has nothing to do with it ;)
Anyway, I know I have been worrying again lately about if Malia was meeting her developmental milestones. Of course you can get fabulous resources from the health center in terms of normal baby development. Here is a link to the Capital Health Infant and Toddler development resources.
However, I also know that sometimes finding the time to read a brochure or article is almost impossible. Also for my personal learning style, sometimes seeing what the development should look like makes things more clear. I found these great videos from Parenting.com which showcase an example of what normal developmental changes parents can expect to see in their babies during the first 12 months of life! It should be noted that there is a range within “normal development” so these videos are just to give an example of one baby’s development. If you ever have any concerns about your baby’s development please seek the advice of your pediatrician. The videos can be viewed here.
For those wanting to take an even more in depth look at their child’s early motor and perception development I love the book and DVD ” Amazing Babies” by Beverly Stokes. The book gives great ideas on how to move and play with your baby to help facilitate their natural development and the DVD clearly illustrates the range of development babies (and toddlers) go through.
